Do you feel a measure of satisfaction when others share your blog content on social media sites? Certainly, you do!
It gives you much joy and a sense of accomplishment to know that people are reading and sharing your blog content.
Honesty, I can’t really express how much joy I felt when I saw my first ever blog post on medium, liked and shared on Twitter more than 30 times on its 2nd day on Twitter. The excitement urges you on to do even more of what you’re doing – create more quality blog content.
However, some articles do not scale through in terms of social sharing. They fail to get the share counts they deserve. Why? A survey by CoSchedule tells us why they’re not getting more social media shares. The study indicates that 77℅ of respondents share their blog content only three times or less.
That is disappointing, isn’t it?
You want your blog posts shared on various social networks to get you noticed and establish yourself as an authority in your industry.
How can you get your blog posts shared on various social media platforms?
Here are 8 simple steps to help you get others to share your blog posts across social media sites.
#1• Create Compelling Blog Content
Great content is the key to content marketing success. In fact, that is why they say content is king. If you create compelling blog content with the right keywords and the right promotion, this will dramatically skyrocket your social media sharing.
Here is what Brian Sutter said about the need to create compelling content:
“If you do enough promotion, people will take a look at your content. Once they engage with it and find it to be less than great, you’ll have made a bad impression on them. And they’ll remember the experience. If you continue to promote weak content, you’ll be training your audience to ignore you.” — Brian Sutter
This is so true because, creating blog content that is less valuable will give your audience a wrong impression about you, which can result in less readership and social shares. Thus, you need to come up with blog content that will add value to your target audience.
However, be mindful of the fact that a compelling content comes handy with an irresistible headline. Ensure your content headline is captivating. This way, Your audience is more likely to share your blog content on social media channels.
#2• Create Long-form Content
It is important that you create long-form content because they are more in-depth, well researched with amazing value. Study shows that on average, long-form content performs remarkably well than short-form content in terms of social media shares.
The chart below, by OkDork and CoSchedule, shows the performance of both long-form content and short-form content on share counts on social media.
The content length that gets the most shares is 3,000 to 10,000-word content. However, there is other longer content of around 2,000 to 3,000-word that also performed well on average. The chart also shows tons of short-form content of about 500-word being published regularly.
This simply means that you have a better chance of establishing yourself and stand out from the crowd as an expert and authority in your niche. The research shows 3,000 to 10,000-word articles as the most shared content on average. I’m not saying you should create 3,000-word content and above.
Rather, make sure to at least create 1,000 to 2,000-word blog content. In fact, two weeks ago I declined a guest post from a contributor who wanted me to publish a 500-word blog content about Instagram marketing. There was no value in the post because it ended even before it started. The post you’re reading right now is over 2,000-words.
