Why are my backlinks not indexed in the first place?

Well, there are many answers to that question.

Here are some reason why your backlinks aren’t getting indexed

1. Your Backlinks are Not Worth of Indexing

Do you really think that Google will Index spammy links that are built on a spammy platform which Google has raised a red flag on?

Google normally doesn’t index low-Quality backlinks which don’t provide any value at all. So the solution to this problem is to build high-quality, value-worthy indexing backlinks.

2. Your Content is Very Thin and Plagiarised

Another reason for not getting your backlinks Indexed by Google is because your content is thin and plagiarized. Google hates Plagiarised Content

So make sure your content is 100 unique and free from plagiarism.

However, another factor is that your content may be too thin. If this is the case, make sure the word count of the article surrounding your links are 800+ words.

Fun fact – An article with more than 2000+ word count performs better on search engine results page/search ranking, according to a study by SerpIQ.

1. Wait and Have Patience

What I mean by the above statement of “Wait and have Patience” is for you to let it happen naturally.

Google will index your backlinks naturally over time if it is worth indexing. It takes around 5 days to 1 week to get it indexed naturally.

However, sometimes, it may take longer than that. So be patient and wait.

2. Submit to Google Webmaster Tool

This is literally the best option to get your backlinks indexed. It consist of Just three simple steps.

  1. Just Go to Google Webmaster Tool or you can just Click here https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/submit-url
  2. Enter the Url
  3. Next answer or solve the captcha and click the “Submit Request” button.

That’s it, it’s that simple. You can submit up to 500 URLs per week.

3. Ping the URLs

If Submitting to Google webmaster tool doesn’t work, don’t stress out. Your next step in this case is to ping your URLs.

Pinging is basically telling Google or sending a notification that there is an update already on the webpage or the site and Google needs to send their spiders to re-crawl the site and update it to the latest information.

There are many pinging tools out there, But the most common tools in the marketplace are:

  • PingFarm
  • Pingler
  • Pingdom
  • Pingfarm, etc

But don’t over ping it, because that’s not going to increase your index rate.

For example, if you ask your friend the same question repeatedly, over and over again, what happens is that he will obviously get annoyed by you.

The same condition applies here. They pretty much perform the same function. So pick one and it will do.

4. Social Shares

This is a great way to index your backlinks faster.

Create a social Buzz and obviously, people are going to flock around it and be excited about what the big deal is about.

So share the links to get social link juice. This does not only help you get better index rate, social proof also brings brand trustworthiness and credibility.

If you are wondering how you can share all these links, it’s simple and impossible. But if you think you cannot do it alone, hire a freelancer or buy social shares from sites like SEO Butler, SEO Clerk, Fivver, etc.

5. Use Backlinks Indexer

If for some reason your backlinks are not yet indexed after a reasonable time must have gone by, then you must use “backlink indexer,” because any normal link would have been indexed after a reasonable amount of time.

So the solution here is to use Backlinks Indexer. There are many links Indexers on the market but I recommend Backlinks Indexer because they provide 100% index rate.

Some of the services they provide are:

  • They will Ping Each Link
  • Submit your links to many authority blogs
  • They also claim to provide social signals
  • Build Web 2.0 links
  • Create permanent backlinks

6. Web 2.0s

You need not do this step if you use the Backlinks Indexer Service.

However, apply this step if none of the above works. But I doubt that the links might be already indexed by now.

You need not do this step if you use the Backlinks Indexer Service. are many free blogging sites, such as:

  • Blogger
  • Wix
  • Tumblr
  • Weebly
  • WordPress.com, etc,.

Go to each of these sites and create an account. They are free.

Next, write an article of around 800-1500 words and post on each site. Spread the backlinks on each of the posts. I would recommend around 8-11 links on each post.

That is the reason why I told you to make your article 800-1500 words long because you can input as many links as possible.

But if you slap 10 backlinks on a 300-word article, Google will see it as spam. And also make sure that the articles are free of plagiarism.

I guarantee you, if you follow and apply these steps correctly, your backlinks will surely be indexed.

  1. Hi Priya,
Well written and informative post. Your points are clear and easy to understand. Thank you so much for this remarkable piece of content.

Well appreciated, and looking forward to more of such article.

  2. You absolutely need to go at least kinda beefy on the content Priya. Folks expect to get their blogs indexed with thin or weak blog posts which is insane. Google rewards value. So serve it up. At least 600 words of practical, usable content, if you want to make a genuine impact.

    1. Ryan Thanks for the comment 🙂
      You are absolutely right!!
Although thin content is relative for some niches
and can answer the user’s question, but most of the time that is not the case.

  3. Hi Priya, thanks for the info here. I really liked your advice to have patience. I think that is the name of the game today!
Of course keep on writing and linking out and it will come back to you in time.
Would you disavow those links that are not related to your site?

    1. Lisa Thank you so much for the comment 🙂
Ummm…iam not really 100% expert in this. But If it is not necessarily coming from spammy sites which have been already red flagged by google I wouldn’t recommend disavowing it.
It’s just that incoming links from the same niche instead of irrelevant sites add more weightage to your PR.

  4. Hi Priya,

    Great tips, indeed.

There is something I so much believe in when it comes to general SEO. Since Google indexing is a part of the search engine optimization process; so I think I should mention it. It’s “building relationships” with other bloggers.

If I’m genuinely happy with a fellow blogger’s content because it helped me, I’d love to mention it in my content whenever possible. Not only it helps the audience, but it also takes the relationship to the next level.

    1. Hassaan You are absolutely right!!
Building a relationship is a very crucial part in order to get more exposure to your blog and get to know the audience of the fellow other Bloggers. In simple terms do Blogger Outreach.

  5. Hey I am so thrilled I found your website,
I really found you by mistake, while I was researching on Bing for
something else, Anyhow I am here now and would just like to say thanks a lot for
this incredible post and a all round thrilling blog (I also love
the theme/design), I don’t have time to read it
all at the minute but I have book-marked it and also added
your RSS feeds, so when I have time I will be back to read
a lot more, Please do keep up the excellent b.

    1. Jamaley Hussain, Thanks for the comment
Even though social share doesn’t count as a direct ranking factor in Google, it does have an indirect effect on ranking a page.
Traffic, bounce rate are a direct ranking factor in Google, so if you got enough social shares, Chances are there are gonna be some referral traffic and if your content is engaging and helpful. They are gonna read it and in turn, it will reduce the Bounce rate. So it does have an indirect effect on it
I think Bing Uses Social share as a direct ranking factor. Make Your SEO optimized not only for Google but also for bing and other search engines

  6. Hi Priya and Moss,
    Good one!

Yeah Priya I agree, a lot of effort goes in writing content and creating backlinks to rank better.

Whereas the indexing is concerned, I had never faced such issue. And as you have already mentioned creating links from quality sites should be the priority… Ethical SEO is the way to go.

I generally, submit url in Google webmasters and forget it and it get indexed. Seldom, doing a lot of things ends up with nothing.

Nice share.. tweeting it. have a great day ahead!

    1. First Of all Navin , Thanks so much for tweeting
Yes, I 100% agree with you “Ethical SEO is the way to go”
If you build quality links, there will be no problem indexing it
      Thanks for reading

    2. Hi, Amar Thanks for the comment and also thanks for the nice compliments!!
I just look at your site and saw one ranking factors on google missing
I would recommend you to switch your site to HTTPS.
It doesn’t mean you can’t rank if your site isn’t on HTTPs but every little bit counts

      1. Hey Priya
Thanks for your suggestion and a wonderful guest post. I will work on switching to HTTPS and I will also work on your suggested methods in this post.

  8. Hi Priya and Moss,

Backlinks are always the most lucrative part of SEO. Building backlinks and getting them index is the need of every webmaster. But, the same time doing it naturally is something where people lack the patience.

    Thanks for the valuable tips.

    1. Hi, Gaurav Thanks for the comment!
      You are 100% right
Give it some time to index naturally, if the backlinks are worth indexing, it will eventually index.
If the links don’t index after trying out all the above mention methods, Chances are the links may be spammy and it’s better to not index cause it will hurt your link profile

  9. Hi Priya,

Making sure that our backlinks indexed is very important to be able to get organic traffic.

Google is getting clever each day and they will easily know if your content is thin, copied, spammy or contains spammy links which all are bad singal.

Linking out to authoritative relevant websites is a very good sign to Google as it ensures that the traffic flow is smooth and Google will love you for doing that.

Thanks for sharing your tips. It is a great post indeed.

    1. Hi Qasim, Thanks for the comment

      1) It Makes Your Site a More Valuable, Scalable Resource

3)Outbound links can also impact the reputation of your site.
      etc

  10. Hi Priya,
