10 Proven Ways to Become a Better and Successful Blogger

How can you become a better and successful blogger? Many especially newbie bloggers often ask this question.

As a blogger, you are aware that the key to blogging and content marketing success is to write and publish high-quality content regularly.

This is so because when you frequently create high-quality content, you are effectively setting yourself up as an expert and authority in your writing niche.

Further, you will build trust with your buyer persona.

However, many bloggers often find themselves struggling to come up with interesting blog content–not knowing what to write as a result of writer’s block.

When faced with this situation, you lose your motivation and will-power to continue writing.

That’s why I love this quote…

“Even the most prolific writers and content creators go through periods of writer’s block. However, if writing isn’t your forte, a block can make you feel completely uncompelled to blog at all.”

– Sandra Manzanares

Yes, at this point you begin to wonder if blogging is worth the effort.

Certainly, it does!

A research revealed that content marketing is one of the fastest digital marketing strategy–so fast that 93℅ of marketers are now using content marketing as their primary marketing strategy.

Further study shows that 15 blog posts a month can generate 1,200 new leads, collect as many as twice inbound links, and increase social media engagement.

With these interesting statistics as proof of the power of blogging and content marketing, the question you want to ask is…

How can you write amazing blog posts and become a better blogger?

1: What is your blogging niche?

Blogging offers a wealth of opportunities for bloggers, but it’s important to know the area(s) where you are more proficient and comfortable with and focus on that area.

If you can find your blogging niche, it will be a lot easier for you to write better blog content.

Consequently, do your research, study the marketplace, write on various niches to find what topics interest you the most. This will make it easier to pinpoint your niche market.

However, please, I want you to take into consideration that if you’re blogging for business, you must choose a niche that is profitable.

This doesn’t really matter to hobby bloggers since they’re only blogging for fun. So make sure the niche you choose to focus on is profitable because you must pay the bills.

Therefore, try to keep a balance between profitability and passion, because a profitable niche will pay the bills, not your passion.

Knowing what topic(s) interest you most–topics you’re more proficient with will enable you to write better blog posts that can improve engagement, generate leads and increase ROI.

People leave comments on blogs, forums, social media sites, and groups. Leverage the pieces of information from these channels to create high-quality contents for your blog.

You can as well use tools like Quora, Buzzsumo, and Google trends to search for trending topics in your niche.

2: Do you have a consistent blogging plan?

You must deliver outstanding contents regularly to have content marketing success and be identified as an expert.

However, no matter how difficult or challenging it may be for you to keep up the standards you’ve set, always remember that the benefits of maintaining a consistent plan are incredibly amazing.

3: Create unique blog contents

When you have successfully identified your niche market and set up your blogging and content marketing plan, the next step is to start writing your blog posts.

Creating unique content is a must if you want to stand out from the crowd.

To that end, try to find out what issues your target audience are dealing with–what problems are they trying to solve? Put yourself in their place.

That’s why I love this quote below. If you put yourself in their shoes, you’ll be able to write unique blog posts that resonate with your readers.

When writing blog content, put yourself in the shoes of ideal reader. Always think like customers when writing content for websites, blogs, and social media. – Unknown

6: Guest post on authority blogs

There’s an abundance of articles or blog content about  guest posting already, so why did I add it to the tips in this article?

Because the need to guest post on other blogs can never be over-emphasized. That is why blogging experts like Neil Patel and others are still contributing guest posts.

Infact, Neil Patel admitted that he regularly write 5 guest posts each week.

Guest blogging on authority sites is one of the best ways to become a better writer. WHY?

Because when you guest post on authority sites, readers to the site will read and make comments about your writing.

The blog owner will also read and edit your post where necessary.

His honest comments, as well as those of his readers, will help you make adjustments where appropriate and improve your writing.

Guest posting offers incredible opportunities because, when you create content for others, you are effectively promoting your brand and blog.

You reach new readers and build your blog’s audience faster. Most important is that, you set up yourself as an expert in your industry.

However, if it’s a little difficult for you to find guest post opportunities on authority site, try guest posting on smaller blogs.

As for landing guest blogging opportunities, many fail in their quest to guest post on authority sites because they’re not going at it the right way.

7: Be time conscious

Timely delivery is an important part of becoming a better and successful blogger.

This calls for you to be time conscious – manage your time wisely.

Bhawna · November 19, 2018 at 10:04 am

Hey Moss,

Very awesome article. You are right told that profitability will pay the bill, not the passion. On some level, I mean on all of them this is so true.
It is something like goals.
Never make a decision where the outcome is not related to you. For instance when people say I am gonna make $100 dollar in 2 months from my blog.
You can’t control this, You can’t tell people to see your ads. The better decision is to target something which you can control
Like I am gonna write 10 In-depth article this month. This is something you can feel passionate about and when you achieve, you will get the sense of accomplishment.
Once again, awesome article. Keep up the good work 🙂

    Moss Clement · November 23, 2018 at 12:06 am

    Hi Bhawna,
I agree with you, seriously. In everything you do, both in business and in secular life, set attainable goals. Do not set goals that are far-fetched. Your example of writing 10 articles a month is the ice breaker.

    Thank you!

Donna Merrill · November 18, 2018 at 1:00 am

Hi Moss

Blogging is a complex business. There are so many things that you have to juggle to become a successful blogger.

I think the points you make about having a consistent blogging plan and investing in yourself are 2 of the most important things to do.

Without a plan, and a consistent one… your focus will stray and your blogging plans will get away from you.

And if you are not adequately investing in yourself, you’ll have a very difficult time being consistent and moving your business steadily forward.

Many great points you’ve made here, and each of them are essential to your blogging success.

This is a great cheat sheet to have handy as you progress in this business.

    Moss Clement · November 18, 2018 at 2:58 pm

    Hi Donna,

You’re right. Consistency in blogging will not only enable you build trust, but will also help you improve your writing skills and become better at blogging, which is very essential for your business.
However, inasmuch as you’re consistent, investing in your blog or self is crucial. All these requires that you have a sustainable content marketing plan as a guide to your blogging success.

Congratulations again Moss and best of luck with this new blog. I’m sure you will do great things with it!

Ryan Biddulph · December 4, 2017 at 11:06 pm

Moss thanks for the shout out! I am with Lisa; I cannot imagine myself blogging alone. It was so tough when I did the solo act as a new blogger nearly 10 years ago, but when I got down with networking, promoting other bloggers and making buddies, things got easier. 5, 10 or 100 friends promoting you is so much better than trying to be a blogging lone wolf.

Excellent advice here.
